AppDogu Attendance for Android
Students see their check-in QR code as soon as they log in. Teachers scan student QR codes with the phone camera.
Free · Android 7 or later · Version 1.0.0 · Size 61 KB
iPhone cannot use this app. Open Class attendance in Safari and tap Install this tool as an app (web). It works the same way.
For students
- 1Download
Tap Download the Android app on this page. The app install file (APK) is saved to your phone.
- 2Allow the install
Open the file from the notification or Files. If you see a message about unknown apps, tap Settings, turn on Allow from this source, go back and tap Install. Android asks once because the app is not from Google Play.
- 3Log in
Open AppDogu Attendance and tap Log in. Enter your AppDogu email and password. No account? Tap Create an account, then tap the link in the email we send.
- 4Turn on fingerprint
After you log in, the app asks Use your fingerprint to sign in next time? Tap Turn on and touch the sensor. Next time, just touch the sensor to open the app.
- 5Check in
The first screen shows My check-in QR code in large size. Show it to the station camera, or tap Scan QR and scan the QR code on the station screen.
For teachers
- 1Download
Tap Download the Android app, just like students.
- 2Allow the install
Open the file, turn on Allow from this source, then tap Install.
- 3Log in
Open the app and log in with your teacher account.
- 4Turn on fingerprint
When the app asks Use your fingerprint to sign in next time?, tap Turn on and touch the sensor.
- 5Take attendance
In the top right menu (three dots), tap Teacher: check-in station, pick the class and tap Turn on QR camera check-in. Fit the My QR code from the student app inside the square. Present or late is marked at once and the name shows in Just checked in.
QR camera check-in and the check-in station are for teachers who purchased a Class pass. Downloading the app and marking attendance by hand are free.
If something does not work
The install is blocked
Open phone Settings, Apps (or Security), Install unknown apps, and allow the app that opened the file (Chrome or Files). A work or school phone may be locked by its admin.
The camera does not start
When asked, tap While using the app. If you said no before, open phone Settings, Apps, AppDogu Attendance, Permissions, and allow Camera. Close other apps that use the camera.
No fingerprint option
Phones without a registered fingerprint, or older than Android 9, can sign in with a password only. Register a fingerprint in phone Settings first, then open the app menu, Settings, Turn on fingerprint sign-in.
I keep getting signed out
For safety, fingerprint sign-in turns off when you add a new fingerprint to the phone. It also turns off when you change your password or turn the device off in My account, Account, App devices. Log in once with your password and turn it on again.
My QR code does not show (not accepted)
Tap My lessons, find the class your teacher added and tap Accept. You need to accept before you can check in. If your teacher turned off student QR, scan the station QR instead.
It says I have no classes
Tell your teacher the email you joined AppDogu with. Your class shows up after they add that email. Also check that you confirmed your email.
Permissions the app uses
- Camera
- Used only while scanning a QR code. Photos and video are not saved or sent.
- Fingerprint (biometrics)
- Your fingerprint is checked only on the phone. It never goes to AppDogu. It only unlocks the sign-in key kept in the phone's secure storage.
- Internet
- Opens the AppDogu site and sends check-ins.
The app is not on Google Play yet. Only the file from this page is the official AppDogu app.
