Selling price calculator
Selling price = cost ÷ (1 − margin rate − fee rate − discount rate). Margin, fee and discount are all taken as a share of the selling price, so together they must stay under 100%. Cost here means item cost + shipping + other costs.
Worked example
- Cost 10.00, margin 20%, fee 10%, no discount → 10.00 ÷ 0.7 = 14.2857…, rounded up to 14.29.
Questions people ask
Why must margin + fee + discount stay under 100%?
All three are taken out of the selling price. At 100% nothing is left to cover the cost, so no price can work.
Why is the price rounded up?
Rounding up keeps the margin at or just above your target. You can round to 0.01, 0.1 or 1.
